This Weekend in Dublin

Hey,

This weekend is a Bank Holiday weekend and it is shaping up to be amazing. On Saturday & Sunday some glorious talent will grace the nightclubs of Dublin.

Saturday
Shadow Child & T. Williams will be playing in Opium Rooms, which is a great venue.

Format B will be playing in The Hangar. Im sure everyone knows his tune 'Chunky' by now. Hangar is also a great venue for a night out.

Sunday
Bank Holiday Sunday sees the return of Winterparty, which will be held in the 3Arena. Huge talent such as Sven Vath, Hot Since 82, Skream & Matador will be in attendance. If you are able to attend, you definitely should. It is the first Winterparty in 10 years, I believe. Once the Winterparty is over, the DJs will split up and head to venues around Dublin to play another set at after parties. If you are unable to attend the actual Winterparty for whatever reason, Skream in Opium Rooms would be my number one recommendation . I am working till 730pm myself, so I cannot attend the Winterparty. However, I will make sure that I get to see Skream in Opium.

I hope this was somewhat helpful for someone,
Until next time,
Dylan Murphy.

This Weekend in Dublin

Hey,

As per usual, this weekend sees some great acts hitting stages all around Dublin. I will recommend an event for Friday & Saturday.

Friday: Curve present Adam Beyer in the Button Factory.
Adam Beyer is an absolute beast, all of his sets are A1. All the tickets are sold out, which is no surprise, but there are lots of tickets being sold in groups such as Tune Drop & Ticket Drop on Facebook. He was one of the best acts I seen at Electric Picnic.

Saturday: Totally Extinct Enormous Dinosaurs in District 8.
One of my friends was present at their last set in D8 and he said they were great. They must be great considering the fact he is wanting to go again this weekend, but it is a pity that I am working.

Of course there are other acts playing that will not disappoint, but these are the two acts which I would definitely recommend. You can get the latest updates for DJs playing around Dublin on the Resident Advisor website; https://www.residentadvisor.net/events.aspx?ai=43.

Until next time,
Dylan Murphy.

Electric Picnic 2017

Hey,

I am aware that Electric Picnic is a long time away, but I have already purchased my ticket. Considering how good of a time I had this year, I figured I can't miss it next year. In addition, buying a ticket this soon will save you some money realistically. Once they sell out, people try to charge outrageous prices for a ticket. In saying that, you would probably get a ticket for face price in the days leading up to the festival. The lineup is not announced yet, and won't be for some time. But I couldn't care who is at it because it will be great fun regardless! My ticket cost me €220. If you have been to Electric Picnic before, you get a discount for every year you have been there. Seeing as I had only been there one year I think the discount was 5 or 10 euro. Next September is a long time away but I genuinely can't wait for EP17!

Until next time,
Dylan Murphy.

WHP Manchester

Hey,

The Warehouse Project, which takes place in Manchester, is a series of Djs attending on different dates to play at a rave in a huge warehouse. For example, MK is playing on the 4th of November, and Jackmaster is playing the following day. It is nicely spread out over a number of weekends, which gives for a month or more of serious acts and parties. All tickets seem to be <€40, which is ideal. On the site you can opt in for a ticket an hotel deal, which costs about €140. Once you have that sorted, you can just get a return flight to Manchester and your prepared then. It would be a good idea to get away for a weekend before Christmas with your friends. You ideally would make a long weekend out of it, and perhaps get your Christmas shopping over there. A lot of the acts are also sold out, but DJ EZ is not. He was probably the best act I seen at Electric Picnic this year. I am myself considering to head over to WHP to see him again, hopefully i'll get the money together.

Till next time,
Dylan.

This Weekend in Dublin

Hey,

Yet again, this weekend is shaping up to be a great one in Ireland's capital. You can always be certain that at least two great acts will be hitting Dublin during any given weekend. Blawan & Psyk take to D8's decks on Friday night. As I have stated before, D8 is probably my favourite venue in Ireland. I always have a great time there, regardless of who is playing. Also on Friday, Julio Bashmore is playing in Opium Rooms. You have probably heard this track of his at some stage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnigNbYVQJE). Truncate will be present at the Hangar, which is another great venue. The main room is unreal and is equipped with a mental sound system.

Motor City Drum Ensemble are playing in D8 on Saturday night. This event is looking pretty much like a sell out from what I can gather from the Facebook event. George Fitzgerald will be in the Button Factory on Saturday night. Here is a mix he done of a classic Dense & Pika tune (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tA2ZzL1Mj4). If I had to recommend anyone for this weekend, I would personally recommend Josh Butler who is playing in the Hangar on Saturday night. He is a severely talented DJ, here is my favourite tune by him, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eORI79PiKE).

So there you have it, some night time entertainment for anyone who may be travelling to Dublin and are unsure of where to go.

Until next time,
Dylan.

Tunes on Repeat #4

Hey,

The three tunes which I have stuck on repeat this week are;

#1: Maxxi Soundsystem- Medicine

#2: Hailee Steinfeld- Starving

#3: B.o.B- So Good
- I found this blast from the past on a throwback Thursday playlist on Spotify. It may be old, but it is without a doubt just as good as ever.

Until next time,
Dylan.

Snowbombing 2017

Hey,

A festival which has been brought to my attention is Snowbombing. It will be held from the 3rd-8th of April next year in Austria. I have not seen the likes of Snowbombing yet, it is held up in the snowy mountains of Austria. You can go skiing throughout the festival, while at the same time see some of the top DJs right now. The lineup includes; Hot Since 82, Eats Everything, MK, Gorgon City, Skream, Dusky, Disciples & Alan Fitzpatrick. It is supposed to be epic, considering the fact it is set in the snowy mountains. Fatboy Slim himself stated, 'there is only one snow festival'. This festival is a bit on the pricy side, but it would definitely be worth splashing out for the experience you will have.

Until next time,
Dylan.

Tunes on Repeat #4

Hey,

Here are the three tracks which I can't stop listening to this week.

#1: Charlie Puth- We Don't Talk Anymore (Kyle Meehan x Xero x Kyle Dockery Remix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OZiCwlj2-Y

#2: MOUNT & Palastic- Once Again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKeSaff5koI

#3: Oliver Koletzki- Iyewaye (Hatzler Remix)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFXvrkejTGM
-I heard this gem at Boxed Off and didn't catch the name of the track. However, I was delighted to find someone posted a video asking for the track ID into Tune Drop, which is a huge music sharing group on Facebook with thousands of members. So I got the track ID in the end, obviously.

Until Next Time,
Dylan.

ADE- Amsterdam Dance Event

Hey,

ADE will kick off on the 19th of October through to the 23rd. You can look at the website by clicking on this link: https://www.amsterdam-dance-event.nl/. If you are big into dance/tech house kind of music like me, then ADE is the perfect place for you. The lineup is absolutely huge! To name a few, the lineup includes:
-Adam Beyer
-Alan Fitzpatrick
-Dense & Pika
-Nicole Moudaber
-Len Faki
-Rodhad
-Marco Reeve
-Kolsch
-Sven Vath
-Pan Pot

These are some of the greatest DJs right now and you could go to just one day of ADE or a few. Considering it is in Amsterdam, you could get cheap flights and stay in a hostel for a few nights. This should not cost too much, and a one day pass to ADE would be cheap enough also. So for anyone looking for last minute plans, look no further!

Until next time,

This Weekend in Dublin

Hey,

This weekend sees some massive talent coming to Dublin. Last night (Friday), Slam was playing at Opium Rooms. Some of my friends went and said it was incredible. I did not go myself because I am trying to have a 'quiet' weekend. I do not even know why, considering the fact that I am not working this weekend. I literally work every other weekend and try to make it up to Dublin or wherever after work, and now that I have the weekend off I chose to stay in- logic!

Anyway, tonight Chris Lorenzo is playing in the Button Factory. Great venue to suit a great DJ. Also, District 8 will host Heidi & Derrick Carter. District 8 is always a good shout if you are looking for somewhere to go. They always have top class DJs and the venue itself is one of my favourites. A new club called the Wah Wah Club opened in the last fortnight in Dublin, and it is getting a pretty good response all-round. Dj Deece was playing there last week and he returns again tonight for what is guaranteed to be a great night.

If you are in Dublin tonight and considering going out, I would definitely recommend District 8 tonight. Although, any of the acts/venues I have mentioned for tonight will be lit.

Till next time,
Dylan.

BD Festival

Hey,

BD Festival (Barn Dance) will be held on the 30th of October in Glendalough House, County Wicklow. Just like Boxed Off, it is a one day festival typed thing. It has a great lineup of both well-known and local homegrown DJs. It's different to Boxed Off in the sense that you are allowed to bring your own alcohol, which is definitely very cost effective! You would not even realise how much you are spending at something like this where you are drinking all day, and a pint will cost you upward of 6 euro. The lineup includes talent such as: Friend Within, Wankelmut and Boots & Cats whom played at Boxed Off and were deadly. The rest of the lineup is comprised of local Irish upcoming DJs, whom are usually just as good as the headline acts!

So if your are looking for Halloween plans, you should definitely save the date! For more information about the lineup, tickets, or just general information, visit http://dayofthedead.ie/index.php.

Until next time,
Dylan Murphy.

Boxed Off Review

Hey,

Saturday gone, October 2nd, I attended Boxed Off. I explained what it is in my previous blog post. However, for those of you whom are too lazy to go check the other post, Boxed Off is a one day festival in Fairyhouse Racecourse, County Meath. It was absolutely outstanding to say the least. I went to it with close friends and a few good friends from school which I don't see to often. The acts at Boxed Off were absolutely A1. For me, the best acts of the day/night were Alan Fitzpatrick, Dax J and Kolsch. The grounds of the festival itself were relatively small, but that is understandable considering it is only the second year which it took place. I reckon next year they will have to move the festival to a bigger site, because demand for tickets increased sufficiently since last year. And from what I saw on Saturday, I can only imagine the demand for tickets by next year will rocket sky high. I will leave a photo which I took of the Bedlam stage while it was in full swing.

Till next time,
Dylan Murphy.
