Electric Picnic 2016

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to post about Electric Picnic, which was on from the 2nd till the 4th of September in Stradbally Hall, County Laois.

I have to say it was probably the best weekend of my life. It was such a craic-filled few days with great people and an epic atmosphere. It was my first time being at Picnic and it definitely won't be my last. I have my ticket sorted for next year already. I have had friends attend it over the past few years and I had always thought they had hyped it up to be more than it actually was. However, this was not the case at all! It genuinely surpassed my expectations.

The festival itself is absolutely massive. By the end of the three days I still would not have been able to navigate myself around without getting lost along the way. Getting lost was not a problem though because you would always stumble across a new area or little side stage which would end up being unreal. Besides the fact that my tent was absolutely saturated by Saturday morning, there was not one dull moment throughout the entire weekend. There was always a new area to explore or something different to do. Everyone was there for the same reason- to enjoy the music and make the most of the weekend, so there was no confrontations which was great.

I did not attend as much acts as I had planned to, but I think that is always the case with festivals. When I attended Life Festival back in May it, it was the same story. You would go roaming the festival, but then someone mentions going back to the tent for half an hour to grab a drink. That half an hour always turned into two or more hours. In saying that, I wasn't complaining because most of the laughs we had the weekend were back at the campsite. The acts I did see absolutely blew me away though. DJ EZ was playing in a tent called the Rankin Wood, and I was a bit skeptical about going because I was never a fan of him. After his set that night my opinion has changed, he was absolutely insane. I had the pleasure of attending Adam Beyer, a DJ who manages the massive tech-house label, Drumcode. Other acts such as Huxley, the Chemical Brothers and the Magician also blew me away that weekend.

So, all in all it was an epic weekend and I already cannot wait for next year.

Here is one of the pictures which I took up there, thankfully this one turned out great!

Bye for now,
Dylan Murphy.
